and network
sponsored by
Houston Galveston Institute
and Taos Institute
The International Certificate Program is a response to the numerous practitioners around the world who are interested in expanding their knowledge and competency in collaborative practice. The Certificate Program provides practitioners across disciplines—therapy, organization development, education and research--an intensive, in-depth study of collaborative practices based in postmodern-social construction philosophy. The Program includes the study of the theoretical and philosophical assumptions and their application to practice in a variety of contexts and cultures.
It is designed for working professionals and is offered in various countries and in concentrated time periods.
Currently, programs are active in:
The program offers a special value as a collaborative learning community in action: a learning environment and process that is harmonious with the theoretical and philosophical assumptions on which collaborative practice is based. Collaborative learning invites and insures that the knowledge and experience of the participants is valued, accessed and enhanced and the faculty is fully supportive and accessible.
There is consistency in Program content across institutions, keeping the philosophy of collaboration, each institution has uniquely designed its Program to meet the needs of local participants. Program components include courses (on-site and on-line), practice opportunities, supervision and consultation, international faculty exchange and numerous opportunities to interact with students in programs and projects around the world. Each Program includes enriching opportunities for learners to combine studies in their local Program with study at other participating Institutions around the world.
Harlene Anderson will be a guest faculty in all Programs. Programs and faculty are certified by the Houston Galveston Institute and the Taos Institute. All faculty have collaborated with Harlene Anderson over the years.
A MESSAGE FROM HARLENE ANDERSON
April 11, 2011
Dear Collaborative Practitioners,
I am very pleased with the responses that the programs in the International Certificate Program are receiving. Two programs, the Central Europe program in the Czech Republic has a full registration of participants and the Interfaci program in Brazil registered more participants than anticipated. Eduardo Villar’s program in Bogota will start in May. He already has two prospective participants who are in Mexico City getting their start in the program at Grupo Campos Eliseos. Sylvia London will be visiting the Interfaci program in Sao Paulo and the Grupo Campos Eliseos program in Tucuman, Argentina in April. In Houston, HGI has started registration for the program which starts in September.
Here is the news from Marilene Grandesso regarding the success of her program’s first session:
The baby was born!!! And in wonderful conditions… I am very happy. He came in a warm atmosphere, with lot of curiosity, enthusiasm, humor, much love and interest. I will send you some pictures and I will summarize some of his productions.
I begin last Friday and Saturday. We had – besides 4 members of my INTERFACI’s team that are doing the program – 25 participants. On Friday I was the facilitator. Our work was organized around three guidelines:
· Promoting conexions among the participants;
· Beginning the background to Collaborative Learning community - Elaboration of a collective agenda to the program
· Favoring Collaboration as a position to relationship.
On Saturday, the facilitator was Emerson Rasera. He was wonderful. He created a close an intimate and lovely relation with the participant and, besides some of them never had been in postmodern domain and never had studied social construcionism, everybody loved so much. The group is very heterogeneous. We have some teachers of Family Therapy courses; supervisers, people from psychodram; from community therapy, a historian (= a professional that studied History); 2 sociologist, 1 from mediation and restorative justice; many psychologist and family therapists, 1 that works with public politic, 2 arttherapists, etc. So, an wonderful diversity of ideas, backgrounds and interests. We have 3 people from Rio de Janeiro State; 1 from Minas Gerais State; 3 from Brasília – Goiás State; 3 from other cities from São Paulo State and the biggest part from São Paulo’s city.
The conversation was organized around
· The History of Postmodern ideas;
· The context to social construction,
· Ideas and practices in a social constructionist orientation
The participants was very interested in go ahead with practice, in different contexts. So our program to the second meeting in May with Sylvia it is wonderful.
This warms my heart to hear the news of these programs. My sincere appreciation to all who are making the International Certificate Program such a success.
